Salam Again

Hi there,
It has been a while since i last log in into my site. Nothing much to say. About a month ago we move to Miri. I started my new job in Miri. Now the kids started to settle down with their schooling and us can't wait to get out from this apartment to our future rent house soon.

Safety Awareness

How to make people work with us have the strong belief about safety? Is not an easy to answer. Tireless effort to make people aware the important of the safety can gradually enhance people belief in safety. Make it people to think about his safety, his collegue, his family and his community. Let's do it....

It's never happen to me

Today we have incident/injury free commitment workshop organize by company to look further on safety. One of the agenda to watch remember Charlie video. Cherlie is the guy who share his personal life experienced resulted on how he treated safety so badly which result his life totally. On thing we can learn from that video is never assume those incidentthat it will never happen to me, it will happen to someone else. It is a good start for anyone of us to start shift his/her paradigm about safety. Try to think it will happen to me unless I do thing cautiously and safely. It is you who will make the call ...not other.

Wealth, Health, Happiness - What are you looking for?

What are you searching and looking for in your life? Wealth, Health, Happiness, Become rich guide, or just statisfaction in life, or just an ordinary life. I think it is a tough question to answer. I have a dream to become a doctor, but failed to be one. My secondary gred was not so good to entitled me for medical study. Later somehow, I was involved in the chemistry world which I do not really envy before. After completing the Diploma study, I changed my path by taking engineering which later I found I love it. During the study years, I was dreamt to be an engineer which will dealt with process and work in the chemical plant. I started with my career after graduate from Chemical Engineering as research officer working in information technology organization. At that time, I am doing the research on information technology such as Traffic Light control system and later doing Computer based training package for local vacational institution. You know what, I am phobia with computer at that time. I am forcing myself to learn new thing especially on computer. At that time computer started becoming an important tool to assist people in work. I glad that I was exposed to that at least keep me updated with the latest and understand detail about how computer work. I strongly belief Allah, did choose me to take those paths and become as what I am today. Today I am dealing with Safety, one thing for sure I enjoyed doing it and being doing it for the past 10 years and still enjoy doing it. I am passionating about doing it. When you doing it, you feel like helping other and yourself to have a safe workplace. So my collegues and friends can come to work without worry and return from work safely. Are we helping other, or just thinking about ourself?. Is that great feeling? While working earning some wealth for me and my family, at the same time I helping other. What about you? do you have something in common? Life is very short, today we are here tomorrow you never know you are still here. Let's leave sometime useful that will be use and remember. For me, in this life we are not only chasing for materialism but it is more than that. So look for thing that you love most and partly can be part of you later when you are gone.....May Allah bless us all.

"Turn Around" or "Turnaround"

We just finished our two yearly shutdown or we call it turnaround(TAR). Sure you wondering why they call it turnaround. First time when I heard this word also doesn't know what and why they call like that. Turnaround is an American dilect that has been using until today for plant shutdown. At that time all equipment been opened for services and maintenance. If you observed it at that time it just like everything turning around.Parts are everywhere, equipment removes, piping scattered around and heavy vehicles such as crane park everywhere. That why they call it as turnaround. Nothing special really but the term sometime make us think, it that the right word?.. I think you know better.
What i would like to share with you is about how challenging we are when you dealing with thousand of contractors and safety hazards are everywhere. We are lucky that no one seriously injured from this major shutdown. The challenge is to manage HSSE aspect to ensure compliance and practice is taking place. We conducted at least 3 official audits every days for total of 14 days. Load of findings and issues were raised and addressed prombly. Just to highlight to those who have this kind of experience, there 4 stages of HSSE lifecycle during shutdown(TAR), pre TAR is all about scaffolding issues, loose materials all over the place, incompliance (here some start testing the effectiveness of the company system). At this stage when we started issuing yellow card (similar like football), people start taking safety seriously and compliance start improving. At second stage of HSSE lifecycle during TAR is about to maintained the compliance and at this time vessel start boxing out. High risk activity start such as entry into confined space, welding inside the vessel and when time reaching the end of the period, people start getting tired and fatigue, short cut will take place. At the 3rd stage is about completing the task by boxing up the vessel, testing, commisioning and authority verification taken place. This stage also dealing a lot with loose materials and tired workers. At this stage you'll HSSE complaince getting better. Last stage is about dealing with houskeeping and those equipment that require insulations before plant start up. These stages are only concer during Mechanical days, not taking consideration on Plant shut down and plant start up, that should be consider different hazards.
To those whose involves with shutdown, take notes...at least you can make a different to avoid any injury to our friends. This should include contractors or employees themself, if we create right system for them to work, I strongly believed we can improve it and safe people who work for us.

Reunion - DIC ITM Batch 89-93

Last Saturday, 26 August 2006, we organised first ever reunion for our batch. Former Diploma In Industrial Chemistry student, formerly known as ITM batch 89 - 93. It was memorabled event for me after almost 13 years we have not seen each others. How long we have not seen each other? hahaha you can measure it through each "spare tyre" that all carry but for ladies still maintain. Full of suprises I can said. I was lucky that managed to meet most of them earlier or few years ago which reduce my anxiety a bit but people like Noa', Dzarifah , Dr. Ali, Fuad and Iskandar also not much change. Dr. Ali, the most fiercesome lecturer we ever experienced also come to support the get together function, thanks to him for sharing his valueble time with us and become our guest of honour. If you see the photo above you can see the different. Others who not manage to come like Nuar, Dzim, Azmi, Yati, Nurul, Wahid, Ramalan, Yusoff, Chan, Raizan, Mansur, Juni,Faz, Rafidi and fews lecturers who wish to join like Norazah, Ruzitah, Ku Halim, Puan Shikin. Hope we can do it again next year with better deal.

Hi readers out there. Not sure how many willing to read my blogger or may be none read. Anyway, doesn't matter someone read my blogger or not, at least I feel enjoyed writing something that can release or sharpen my writing skill. During my school day, English was the most hated subject. I never get a good mark, mostly failed in english subject even during my SPM i didn't do very well. Still remember the english teacher come to me and shout to me that a get poor score for english. Anyway, I still respect her as my good teacher. Anyhow, the drives to learn and enhance myself had driven me until today that I can write, read and speak english better than before. One thing about this is self driven, who else will drive you if you don't have the strenght to drive yourself. The internal belief and drive will lead you to a better person. I learnt a lot from my past 35 years of my life. From younger day until today and for sure i will never stop learning until I die. Today, i would like to let us think on self driven and self enhancement. If you want to move forward and being a better person never stop learning and practicing what you have learnt. Without practicing, the knowledge will disappear sooner or later. The atititude is also need to be right, never gave up and be humble if you want to learn from other.
